Tuesday

Green

Light, moving quickly
thorough the day, has
begun eating  the

green.

A branch or two here
and there, then suddenly
yesterday an entire tree

gobbled and left yellow.

Beguiled by carnival colors
we are easily seduced.  Flags
waving over hideous music,
the more hideous the better,
does the trick for the human

century after slow century.

As for me, I'll be dancing
singing colors in a week,
maybe two, sorrow all but
forgotten for my beloved

green.
